at just what white lights could do
to rust covered towers,
like socialist angels
dancing tangos and sambas
up and down the sewers.
I was pleasantly amazed
at the stench of the ales and ciders
that weighed so heavily on my shoulders.
I clapped while fathers and the ambitious
draped themselves in the robes
that were once rightfully mine.
